Here you find one chorus of an example on how to play an easy blues guitar solo over the full fretboard by using the pos. 1 / 2 and 4 of the minor pentatonic. This is sufficient to fulfill the task. The example opens up with a standard opening and then quickly moves on to the high position to then come back to the very low position with a run.

then these tabs are for you. Here you can start with the most easy ways of playing rock guitar power chords and you can already start to play your first rock guitar riffs even if you still are struggling with guitar chords. There are 3 keys + available. The keys of Em and Am work well because you can work with easy open string power chords and any other key works with the power chord inversions which are very easy to grab. The focus here is on your learning process of the basic rhythm figures with full, half, quarter and 8th notes. In rock guitar the rhythm is very important so get to know those basic rhythm figures, also the pauses and start to practice them with the beginners power chords to be ready for the basic power chords with more complex rhythms :

Here you find some exercises on a II V I progression in G by using an alteration on the D7 chord. The altered mode ist the VIIth level of the melodic minor scale. So in this case it would be Eb melodic minor. I have selected a tempo of 100 bpm for this exercise so that you have enough time to figure out the sound and usage of the altered mode.

Whenever a student enters my room and wants to learn guitar from the very beginning I always say the same thing : " First everybody needs to learn the basic chords on guitar . If you practice regularly on a daily basis you can make the basic chords in a fluent way in 3 - 6 months in order that you are able to play any simple song as you can see in this example. The really big mountain to climb is the barré chord. That one might take 6 months or more till you can play that one fluently in a simple song. To get the barré chord done you first start with the barré replacement chord. You have to figure out how you need to place your finger in a way that all strings are sounding. Normally a beginner is able to get 4 strings sounding at the beginning. This will improve with practice. Once you can do the barré replacement chord then you can move on to the barré chord.
Playing the simple songs pay attention to the proper down - and upstrokes and also notice that the last upstroke of a bar is an empty chord. This helps you to make the chord change fluently.
To fulfill the described tasks in the estimated timeframe you need to practice this daily and do each exercise 3 times. Once you pass this threshold then your fun on guitar can start.

A lot of students have difficulties in understanding why intervals are so important to understand modes. Here are a few exercises where the modes are all played starting from the C on the 3rd fret on the A string. Here you can see the difference of the modes very well and you can understand how they are built. Once you can alter from one mode to another in just one position then you can start to do this everywhere on the fretboard. All you need to know are the intervals of each mode and where to find each interval in relation to the root note of the mode. This exercise seems to be small and easy but this is the main thing you need to learn if you want to be able to play freely on the entire fretboard. Every mode is defined through the intervals in relation to the root note.

These exercises are basic exercises taken from basic left - right hand independence exercises from piano playing. There are basically 2 types of exercises. You have those where you do ostinato figures with the left and right hand and make combinations and figures where you do independant figures of the left and the right hand. The selected chord progression is Am / Am / G / G . A very simple progression which includes both types of chords. There is an audio file added that you can hear how the tabs should sound alike.

Here you find some basic timing exercises where you can practice your timing in shuffle blues guitar. This one is in the key of A and using the very standard blues form. It is very important that you practice this with your foot on 2 & 4 - that's the main goal and that's why the rest seems to be so simple. You can practice this either just with your foot or if you want some " help " with the backing track.
