I have always been a huge fan of Steve Vai. For me is still the unchallenged number one rock guitar player. It's about time to make it to make a tutorial about his types of instrumental rock ballads. They often come along in the measure of 6/8. I created a track in the key of E minor in the measure of 6/8 and in this tutorial I show you how the rhythm guitar is played and after that very short introduction to 6/8 rhythm guitar I going to give you some easy going instructions how to create great rock balade lead sounds and how to create those long notes which make them so great. The really great feature of Steve Vai’s guitar playing is it absolute perfect tone control in every situation of lead guitar. I give you some insight how you can work with slight pinch harmonics and slipping the tone into overtones and to create great long notes with your lead guitar. So this tutorial doesn't really talk about how to do the typical Steve Vai guitar licks. It’s more about tone control and how you can control with your tone with your vibrato, your bendings and the distortion settings in combination with pinch harmonics.
