Finished the movie

I am so glad that I could finish the movie which kept me busy over weeks. I took me 171 hours to score that movie. The movie is the 175 anniverary movie for the internation Swiss company SULZER. That was quite a challenge. The movie contains only music & pictures so I had to compose 30 minutes of music. You can check the movie at http://www.music-pictures.com/sulzer.wmv. My favorite scenes are the beginning of " Powergeneration " and " Hydro carbon processors ". But to tell you the truth - I don't want to see any turbines and pumpes for the next 20 years anymore. ;) - and I really need some holidays :-D

Liveperformances

I started the liveperformance series in the St. Jakobs Church in Zürich with the red and the orange concert. The people really loved my music and my presentation of those 2 colors and I guess this was one of the first times where you could here a great leadguitar sound in that church :-D Those who missed it or it has been to far away to come - check the links to listen to the music I played and the small movie which was looped.

Green and lightblue will be next. Check http://www.music-pictures.com/live.htm

One thing which showed up is that quite a lot of people do not understand the relation between colors and music - even that they love what they heard and saw. This is a phänomen called " synesthesia ". When you check history you will see that a lot of known musicians and artist knew this and they worked with it.

I for one am thuroughly impressed. Most Excellent Hans. Supurb job on the score, I can see why you must be exausted, I had no idea there were so many pumps... :)

I'm sure I've shared that my girl is an artist. We've been connected for many years and have created side by side, she with color and brush and each has inspired the other to a degree or another. We never knew there was a word for it but this makes much sense... thanks for sharing this, maybe now we can bring out even more...

You sire, are Brilliant :)

Peace...

That's quite a different concept for a corporate presentation which usually uses narration. Was that your idea ?

You worked 171 hours on the project. Being a different concept did you have an unlimited amount of hours allocated to the project and you ended up with working those 171 hours ?

You had to maintain some unity for the project as a whole. Did you composed most music clips within about the same tempo. I guess you provided them with your music clips and then their were added to the video. Did you do the mastering of the music with your own DAW or you provided them with the mix which was then mastered ?

Anyways , very well done. You must have had headaches at times.

I know - but that was not my idea. But then I had the idea of making a great clip with different tensions and moods with the music. The very first beta version was great acutally - I told the producer, that it would make sense on this concept to create something which keeps the attention of the viewer over the whole 30 minutes but he cutted it down on what you see know. Even the intro was more bombastic with great hollywood sound effects. He didn't like it. On the car race and the powergeneration I had great guitarmusic with a great emotional impact and on the carbon thing there there was a heavy pumping hiphop groove with rock guitar riffs. Looked great ... now I don't like it too much. It's OK but pretty boring.

I had to get it done in the range of 160 hours - that was kind of a big pressure to get all those changements and edits done in that time.

The music was composed direct to the clips with Nuendo. I did the mastering with Wavelab 6.0 and Waves mastering plug ins.

YES - had had a lots lots of headaches... I'm so glad it is finished. For the next time I will think about it since I didn't really know what I was expecting.... ^_^B):D

I guess being a corporate presentation he didn't want it to be too upbeat. As a creator it's sure you dont have the same perspective as the producer who's more of just a conservative business man.

This contract may bring you another one where you'll be able to makle something more exciting. The overall quality is outstanding so you achieved your mandate well.

Have a nice day,

Well this was my first step in real scoring buisness. Now I can tell the truth - I never did that before, so it came out pretty well and I earn very much money for that - and this might lead to more exiting productions. That was my idea as well.

It's a great experience for you then. Even if it was a first for you you had the gutts to give it a try. You should never doubt your abilities especially with the toolbox that you have.

Out of curiosity what accident did you have that you had to stop playing piano for many years. Did you learn guitar after you had this accident and if so how could you play guitar if you couldnt play piano . Both instruments need to use your hands to play :)

If the question is too personal you dont need to answer

In fact yes - this is one thing I learnt from my dad who was in international top manager for many years. " If you never have done something before - always say " I can do it " " !

By the way I will be the featured artist of the month at taxi.com - this is real great news. There you get all those TV and movie placements

I don't know the english word for that. But you get it when you play too much - and I had it in my right hand. I couldn't even hold a cup without any pain. The doctor gave me a 50% change that I could play piano again. Then I switch to guitar. It was painful when I started, but since the movment of the right hand was not the same like on piano I was able to play and after 6 months I only felt pain when I played piano. Then I started to practice 10 - 16 hours daily to get back into professional buisness. Those were very hard times for me. I had to start from the very beginning. I played guitar beside at that time, but my abilities were pretty limited because I started with guitar at the age of 20 - and piano I played since I was 7 I think.

Today I can play both instruments on a similar level. On my liveperformances I always play both.

I'll take a look at taxi.com

Maybe you had some sort of tendonitis I know this can hurt alot. I had it to the right shoulder and had to have cortisone shots to kill the pain.

Your story is totally admirable. It shows that whatever talent you have , hard work is the key to success.

Have a nice day
