Smokestack Lightning by Howlin Wolf is one of the real Blues classics. So that's no brainer to do a guitar tutorial how to play the guitar riff which is played in the original recording to got the vibe of Mississippi Blues into your guitar playing. Since the riff only has two easy parts I decided to also make a little tutorial in the second part how to play bottleneck Blues in Mississippi Blues style. Check the chapters below to find what you wish to learn in this tutorial here.  inIf the end of this tutorial I going to play a version of myself to give you some inspiration how you can play really great cool music blues music with a bottleneck to this song in  session.any blues jamsession.

I got a chance to see Hubert Sumllin play in Detroit before he passed. I love the Howlin Wolf stuff.

Love Hubert Sumlin and Howlin' Wolf.........there was a great story printed about Hubert Sumlin first meeting Howlin Wolf..................

"The first time Sumlin saw Wolf in action, as he told Living Blues magazine in 1989, he was too young to get into the club, so he climbed on to some Coca-Cola boxes to peer through a window; the boxes shifted and Sumlin fell into the room, landing on Wolf's head. After the gig, Wolf drove him home and asked his mother not to punish him. "I followed him ever since," Sumlin said."

When he died, The Guardian newspaper wrote that Hubert "combined musically with Howlin' Wolf like gasoline and a lit match!.

Great music!

Great line!

Yeah, they were awesome together!

There's a really good documentary on Howlin' Wolf, too. What a unique and fascinating artist.

I like watching the old documentaries... Chicago was such a wild time back when the Chicago Blues was thriving.
