Jazz Guitar Secrets - Options

One very important part of jazz guitar theory are the " options ". Every mode is built of 7 notes which are intervals. 4 notes of the mode ( the root, the 3rd, the 5th and the 7th ) are used to build a 7th chord and the remaining 3 notes are called the options. They are what make jazz guitar sound like jazz guitar, either you build chords with options or you use the options to solo on a specific mode. In this tutorial I introduce you to the options of the 7 basic modes : ionian, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, aeolian and locrian and show you how to use the options on each mode in soloing.
